PACK ITEMS IN PLASTIC TOTES WITH SECURE LIDS

  1. Plastic totes with secure lids are typically best for storing fabrics, blankets and clothing for keeping pest out. 
  2. New Cardboard boxes with taped top and bottom is also a great option. 
  3. Avoid using boxes from grocery stores or restaurants to attract unwanted pests.  

KEEP YOUR ITEMS RAISED OFF THE GROUND

  1. Open shelving or placing clean pallets on the ground is a great way to keep items away from unwanted pest and protect from moisture. 

COVER MATTRESSES AND FURNITURE

  1. Using plastic covers designed for mattresses and furniture will help preserve your items while in storage and keep pests out. 

MONITOR & CLEAN

  1. Treat your unit like an extension of your house.
  2. Check on it from time to time, while there tidy up sweep the floor. 
  3. Report any signs of pest activity. 

USE NATURAL REPELLENTS

  1. Keep the area clean, and broom swept. 
  2. Put cedar blocks in a bowl on a shelf. 
  3. Drop lavender or peppermint essential oils on cotton balls and place them in your unit. 

DO NOT STORE FOOD

  1. Do not store any kind of food in unit.
  2. When storing furniture please vacuum the food crumbs out before storing pest will find it. 
  3. Check your kitchen items to ensure they don't have food on them, pest will find it.
